College Bus Service Student Registration

Terms and Conditions

Helena College offers bus routes for Pre-primary to Year 12 students, making the logistics of getting to and from school an easy process.

Please note that due to supervision ratios required under the National Quality Framework applicable to Kindergarten students, we are not able to offer the bus services to these students.

West Coast Bus Charter (WCBC) is contracted by Helena College (the College) to provide private transport services for students to and from school along specified routes.

WCBC and/or the College have a duty of care to a student whilst they are using the College Bus Service. Parents/guardians are held responsible for their own child(ren) prior to boarding the bus in the morning and upon departure from the bus in the afternoon.

It is a requirement of travel that parents/guardians and students agree to the following:

  1. Students accessing the service will behave and act with respect and courtesy to the Bus Driver and other passengers in accordance with both the Helena College Student Code of Conduct (available on my.helena), and the WCBC Code of Conduct (see below).
  2. Students not complying with the Code of Conduct may be permanently excluded from accessing the bus service.
  3. Students can only access the College Bus Service Routes for which they have been registered.
  4. A bus management platform, RollCall, will be utilised to administer the bus services. RollCall is a tracking system providing parents with visibility of child movements on buses to and from school. All bus users are to be registered on RollCall, and by using the College bus service, you are agreeing that RollCall will be used to manage your students' bus travel.
  5. All students travelling on the bus should produce a SmartRider card. For casual bus users, funds are to be loaded onto the card. For permanent reserved seating bus users, the term based fee for travel must be paid at the commencement of each term.
  6. Students must be at the stop 5 minutes before collection time to ensure quick embarkment.
  7. Students must be vigilant and watch for the bus. Please note, that all buses have ‘WCBC’ in large gold letters written on the sides with several vehicles also displaying Helena College signage.
  8. Students are to swiftly arrive to the Buses at the end of the school day as all bus services will depart the College at 3.25pm sharp. Awaiting buses will have colour coded signage displayed to assist students locating the correct bus at the end of the day.
  9. Parents agree that students using the bus service will pay for their travel and that casual users will keep the SmartRider card in credit.
  10. Reserved seating for frequent travellers is a per term charge and not a per trip charge. There will be no credits or refunds should a traveller miss any trips.
  11. Failure to pay for services may lead to suspension of services.
  12. Changes to stops or adding a collection needs to be made in RollCall before 5am for the morning run, and 12.00pm for the afternoon run.
  13. Any issue or incident of concern should be raised with the Business Manager businessmanager@helena.wa.edu.
  14. Parent/guardian permission is granted for WCBC and/or Helena College to take whatever action is reasonably considered appropriate, to provide first aid or to seek medical care for a student in an emergency situation, which may include calling an Ambulance.
  15. The College reserves the right to make changes to these Terms and Conditions and the College Bus Routes, as and when required.

SMARTRIDER | Multi Purpose - Transperth and Helena College Bus Card

The Public Transport Authority (PTA) advises that all students are eligible to receive a Student SmartRider concession card. The card is made available for all students throughout the state. Information about the Student SmartRider is available from the Transperth website www.transperth.wa.gov.au.

The card will feature the College logo, student name, ID photo, library code and barcode. There is no cost for the dual purpose (Public transport and College Buses) card. Replacement cards will incur a cost of $5.00 (inc GST).

In order to issue the cards in the first instance, the PTA requires that parents/guardians give their permission for the College to provide student details to the PTA, for the purposes of registering the student for concession travel, and to enable the Student SmartRider to be produced. Only students, who provide parent/guardian permission for the release of these details, will be issued with a card through their school. The information released is student name, date of birth, address and student number.

TRANSPERTH

Parents/guardians should be aware that students will require a Student SmartRider to access concession travel on Transperth, bus, rail and ferry services, and Transwa country road and country rail services.

Please note: Prior to use, a minimum of $10.00 must be added to SmartRider cards to use it to pay for Transperth fares. For further information on how to add value to your SmartRider, visit the Transperth website www.transperth.wa.gov.au.

Money added to the SmartRider for Transperth services I can not be used for College Buses, RollCall app is used to add funds to the SmartRider for College Buses.

The Public Transit Authority WA has advised the College that, as a government agency, it is required to comply with privacy legislation requirements and will only be using the information provided by the school for the issuance of the Student SmartRider concession card only.

If you do not wish your child to be issued with a Student SmartRider through this process, but your child still requires a Student SmartRider concession card, you will need to go to a Transperth Information Office or the Transperth website and apply for one. You will need to provide proof that your child is enrolled at the College and pay a fee for the purchase of the card.

Please sign below to give the College permission to release your child’s details for the purpose of ordering a SmartRider.
